Tao Restaurant NYC Review

Tao Restaurant Desert

Tao Restaurant in NYC is an extremely fun place to visit for dinner or a night out. We went to Tao for
my birthday 2 years ago and had a great time. The décor of the restaurant is absolutely amazing, everything from the humongous Buddha watching over you to the tiny details on the walls, your table and even the bathrooms. The ceiling is covered in what looks like tapestry with Asian writing on it adding to the overall exotic feel of the place.

Tao’s menu is extensive and has something to please any picky eater, like myself. The drinks were anything but weak, but that probably depends on the bartender on duty. I am pretty sure I had to send my drink back because it was just too strong for me to stomach, so if you like your drinks strong, like most people, this is the restaurant for you. Also, don’t forget to try desert, my “Happy Birthday” giant fortune cookie was finger licking good, just that desert alone is worth a trip back. From what I understand the pricing at Tao is on the high end, but I can’t say for sure how much a meal for 3 people cost since my boyfriend is refusing to tell me. The menu listed on the restaurant’s website does show prices, so that should give you some idea as to what your valet should expect.

The ambiance at Tao Restaurant is great; however, it is very crowded and loud. If you are planning to bring your date there, get ready to yell. If you are going with a large, fun group you will fit right in. So maybe this restaurant is not designed for romantic dates, but is perfect for a night out with friends or family. The dress code is dressy, but not over the top. Pretty much expect to wear anything you would normally put on for a night out in the city. Jeans are fine, which gives this place extra points in my book. Also, for girls, if you are anything like me and tend to get cold from air-conditioning, here you will not need to bring a jacket or a sweater, because even with the summer’s AC it was warm inside.

Overall, this restaurant is a must visit! Whether you are looking for a place to celebrate a birthday, an engagement, a promotion or just planning a night out you can’t go wrong with Tao. They also have great event hosting capabilities and at Tao you are bound to have a great experience.
